Spirit Airlines Brings the First Low Fare Service to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

MIRAMAR, Fla. — Spirit Airlines continues to expand its international route network as the ultra low cost carrier today announced the addition of another new route from its Fort Lauderdale gateway with non-stop service to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Scheduled to begin on June 12, 2008, Port of Spain becomes Spirit's 22nd Caribbean/Latin American destination and the 43rd city it serves.

Spirit's low-fare mascot Nickel Centpiece, commonly known by his rap moniker 5-cent, is kicking off the new service with his infamous 5-cent fares(A) and also debuting his newest 5 cents a mile fares(A) available today and tomorrow at http://www.spiritair.com/.

"We couldn't be more excited to introduce this new service to Trinidad and Tobago," said Spirit's Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle. "Trinis will look back on this day as the day they gained their independence from high fares!"

"We congratulate our hometown carrier, Spirit Airlines, on their continued growth and new service to the capitol of Trinidad and Tobago, Port of Spain," said Kent George, Broward County Aviation Director.

"Trinidad and Tobago is thrilled to be part of the expanding network of international destinations for Spirit Airlines," said Jason Baptiste, Marketing Manager, Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company. "The arrival of Spirit Airlines is certainly welcome. In addition to their low cost competitive air fare structure they will be a major factor in the expansion of visitor arrivals in Trinidad and Tobago. We look forward to working closely with them to ensure this flight is a success."

WOMAN Tour hits Atlanta’s Park Central on Saturday May 24th

Saturday, May 24th, the biggest concert event hits Atlanta entitled “WOMAN”! The event will be in Atlanta for the first time ever, featuring the top soca female artists out of the Caribbean inside Park Central, one of Atlanta’s premier venues. Entertainers include Destra Garcia out of Trinidad and Tobago, Zoelah out of St. Vincent, Tizzy out of Antigua and the event will be hosted by Giselle the Wassi One out of Miami and co-hosted by Lystra Cudjoe, a former Atlanta resident.

The event is the brainchild of Giselle the Wassi One. It is designed not just to entertain but to empower and enlighten women all over the world through music. It’s not just a party, there is a message thus a percentage of the proceeds for this event will benefit Breast Cancer patients. The co-host Lystra Cudjoe was recently diagnosed with cancer and her diagnose is an example of one of the many health challenges facing women in today’s society.

WOMAN has already sold out venues in the Cayman Islands and Belize. The event will be promoted by Itchibaba Promotions and Energy Inc.

Still depressed but I made it through

So I was very depressed through J'ouvert, Carnival Monday & Tuesday but I made it through. I didn't die though at times I felt I would especially after my cousin in Trinidad text me to my phone to check out a website that would have live feed on the parade of tha bands. So I went on to work & afterwards rush home to watch. I dunno why, it would only depress me more but I guess I just couldn't resist. I also felt conforted by my sister in law whom decided not to go either b/c she is prego. She is in NY & we watched together & chatted on IM screaming & crying together wishing we was chippin dong di road & taking a good wine wit RedBull & Vodka in we hand. I myself had bought my costume already & ended up selling it, so when I saw my section pass I felt tears starting to build up but I was tough, I sucked dem back up....lol! Oh laaawd!! But I will come back strong for 2009, that I do promise.

With Trinidad Carnival coming up, is all about di chunes. My very good friend Dj Tony Tempo is mashin up di airways on Globe Radio. Dj Tony Tempo airs on Wednesdays from 2pm-4ish. We say 4ish b/c he on carib time so dat normally is like an hour later...lol!
I have been listening to Tony for years but this is the first time I hear him on Globe Radio & let me tell you, Tony rel mash up di radio. My friends & dem could not sit still.

Although I won't be in TnT this year & it does break my heart every time I hear soca but hay, soca in meh blood so I cyaa turn di ear when I hear sweet sweet soca music playin' especially when is a new chune like di new Machel & Patrice boi. I have a bunch of 2K8 chunes on the blog & I always adding when I feeling a vibe, also some late 2K7, I just added Rollin by Machel & Patrice. So I just officially sold my Water Nymph costume thanks to my girls Gt Warrior & HQ! Love ya gyuls! LMAO! It was a very sad moment for me but I know is all for the best this year.
The year has actually started out good so I hope this continues throughout. My hubby & I have both sold our costumes with no problem, hubby has an interview for a job later this month for a job that he has so wanted for a while now, & I recieved an offer for a promotion at work yesterday. Not bad I should say for only being 15 days into 2008. So the plans have already started for Carnival 2009 as I begin to look at the brighter side of things & things are deffinately looking up. I will not let anything get into the way of my 2K9 Carnival! LOL! OMG it really sounds like dais all I livin' for....lmao!
All yuh take plenty pics for me eh. I still looking for someone to take pics of J'ouvert, Carnival Monday & Tuesday for me to post on the site, so far is been not so easy finding anyone as I am very picky. Lol!

Is ok though I have come to the realization that I am not able to go this year & Carnival 2K9 will be my year to shine!! Believe it or not, I have already started with my preparations & planning.

Look out for me at these carnival send offs. I will be working of course taking pics, I know all yuh preparing to get on rel bad for Carnival but still, behave all yuh selves nuh, later all yuh does e-mail me to take some pics off di blasted site b/c yuh get all embarrassed. Although I will not be on the road for Carnival 2K8 I am making plans to have someone take pictures of J'ouvert, Carnival Monday & Tuesday for the site. So I will have those pics up for you as soon as I can after Trinidad Carnival. I will keep all yuh updated so stay tuned.

My Worst Nightmare Came True!!!

Well, laawd fadda, where to start. Di year now start & already my luck turn for di worst. I will no longer be playin mas for Trinidad Carnival 2008. Do to personal circumstances I will not be making the trip this year & I am devistated.

My costume is now for sale, I will be posting it on CarnivalJunction.com as will my husband. If anyone is interested please e-mail me at carnivalvibration@hotmail.com. The picture of the costume is above to the left. The costume is part of Tribe, section is Water Nymph.

Just want to wish everyone a great weekend & especially a very Merry Christmas!!! From our family to yours, stay safe during the holidays. Remember we need to make it to Carnival 2008!! Lol! On a serious note though, stay safe. Don't drink & drive & if you are on the roads just go from point A to B there are alot of crazies out this time a year on di road try to avoid any of that.

As most have you have been preparing & starting the carnival madness I honsetly had put carnival on the backburner for a minute after I registered for Tribe. (Alot of things came up). That aint stopping me from going Trinidad Carnival for 2008 though. Things now started workin' out. For me, the madness & excitment now start.
Last week on accident I found my carnival boots & I think dais wah out me in fool force to prepare for carnival. I was looking for work shoes & came across the perfect mas boots. I tried dem on & wow!!! Perfect fit wit even enough room to chip & not feel my toes hitting di fromt of meh boots!! Woo HOO!!! I decided on decorating the boots in Trinidad as I didn't want them to damage on the plane ride. I will be purchasing glitter & glue from Samaroos & also my next factor into my decision to wait to decorate was that I will be using parts of my costume for dem as well. I added a picture of the boots & you will see that all that is left is for be to de-fur them which I will be starting on shortly. You can find these & more boots at www.rackroomshoes.com.
I have also found my eyshadow that I will be using. you can take a look at my registry for the things I will be taking on my trip to Trinidad this year.
Next on my list of things I started, I started about 2 weels ago really watching what I am eating. I am trying this whole low carb thing which so far is working. I have done it before & had great results so, we shall see how it goes. In conjuction wit di good eats of course I had to join the gym & so far, I love it!! Today I have a Latin impact class & tomrorow KICK BOXING!!! I cyaa wait....lol!!!

Now that Miami Carnival done I like many others I am sure are now concentrating on the "Greatest Show on Earth", none other than Trinidad Carnival!
I registered with Tribe ( thank GOD for being a TLC card holder) & I got the section I wanted & now is time to accessorize.
Every year I know body Crystals are on the top of the list. I have a friend that is in the "business" ;) So all yuh looking for body crystals take a look bellow for all the info including contact info. The crystals in the pictures are in fact the same as the ones being sold.

The cost of the crystals are $6.00 TT ($1.00 USD)for the small bag and $8.00 TT ($1.33USD) for the larger bag.

The colours are:

My Miami Carnival experience

Aight, so I am gonna be rel honest in this review b/c I just feel the need to this year.
I had an ok time this year but I normally have a better time here in Miami this time a year. I was rel disapointed in the whole Broward carnival issues to beggin with so I decidd to go to Miami Carnival.
Let me start the whole experience from the fetes. I started my feten from Wednesday, I decided to go with some friends to Bacchanal Wednesday (a GenerationX event). I decided to go for more than 1 reason, #1 most of my friends are either working for GenX or are close followers of GenX & #2 a good friend of mine was DJing. Anywho, fete was rel nice, despite the fact that maybe it was a handfull of people I was still feelin di vibes & this was there first year throwing this party so I feel next year this fete will be bigger & better. So far, so good right? Hmmm....
Next night (Thursday) Girl Power was on, I honestly had wanted to go to Tribe ignite b/c for years now I sayin' I nah going another Girl Power & somehow I always end up there b/c of the people I rollin wit. This year, was no different. NEXT YEAR, I NAH GOIN!! This time I putting my foot dong! I will refuse & I will be at Tribe Ignite as I now kickin meh self hearing all the good reviews......hmmmm.
Friday night was on to the Intl. Flag night. Machel Montano performed, need I say more. This fete was boss. I have to be rel honest here, Wednesday & Thursday I was wukin hard at these fetes, but this particular fete, sooooory, I was enjoying myself, that was my night off to get on bad yes. Machel HD was incredible as always, Patrice was great, Benjai, yummy!! Ok, but there was a lil' something that rel disapointed. Now, I haven't been doing carnival all my life, but I been doing the whole carnival scene for a good while & never have had a problem at any fete wit anyone being rude or hostile towards me, I have never really even seen a fight at any of these fetes which I am sure there have been, but not often. Well, this night I see rel shit eh. There was a lil' group of people in front where I normally go to get on bad. The group I could honestly tell was going to be trouble from the get go so I decided to move somewhere else in the front on the opposite side. Somehow they end up over by my group again I guess wit all di jumpin up & prancing around. Now, all yuh who are like me & like to go to di front know, if you need to move somewhere, good luck cuz it tight boi. Well one of di fellas from di group decided he needed to jump off the stage & want to come by me to get up on di stage & honestly guys, I couldn't even move out di way to let him go, so I advise him it have no room & if you see Mr. man literally put his hands on me & push me out di way, well goooorsh, I get heated eh & I give dis boi one cut eye, do you know dis man proceed to come in my face like he go hit meh! OMG! So dat vex meh more & imagine meh husband, laaawd so I tell di boi wah you go hit meh so now he woman come & wah fight meh, jeeez!!! So finally di gyul ready to hit meh & security come & take she. Do you know how disapointing that was to me. Never, Never have I seen this in my life!Remeber that story eh. I aint go tell yuh why, just remember it.

Aight, after all that drama came soca fest. I always have a ball at this fete, honestly I cyaa even give a review on it. It just nice vibes man.
Ok, now for Miami carnival. I was rel disapointed in 1 thing only. Answer me this please someone, why di ass was di bands moving so blasted fas? I tryin to keep up wit all but laaawd fadda help me. I dind't get to go in the park this year, maybe next year. The kids had school the next day & my wonderfull husband refused to get a sitter so we could stay at the park :(. Next year.
Now for Beach fest. This is another fete I does go to almost every year. I must say this year was kinda, well.....it was different. Now remember that boi from di Machel fete, well here dis nuh. My husband & I arrive to the fete, all is good, I wukin & all of a sudden who do I see being pulled outta di crowd, di boi himself. Boi was lookin all flustered & upset he tryin to go back into di crowd to fight & his boys holding him back. Well at this point I dunno wah going on, who he trying to fight but we soon find out eh.

After dat I was not feeling the vibes so I kinda move outta di crowd & I see the people that we was waiting to meet at the fete, which is my brodda in law & he wife. So we chatten away go & get something to eat, & in a split second I see the whole crowd at the front of the stage scatter like roaches when the lights come on. Next ting police & an ambulance arrive. Yes! dis man proceeded to go into the crowd to finish his fight, & of all this the most shocking to me was that his opponent was a woman. This man proceeded to go & lash dis young lady & on top of it RUN! after that, you know party done. The police looking for him all over di place after dat, stopping cars on di way out. I guess my point of this whole experience was that honestly, times have changed, the crowd has changed. Everyone was so upset with the whole Broward Carnival venue issue but now, can you blame them for sayint all dem things when look what examples we have people leading. Destra came on the stage after that whole event & what she said I rel had to agree with. "People already have a stigma of caribbean people, black people." she carried on about dem kinda ignorance & how you go mash up a fete where people just tryin to have fun & bring yuh chupidness to a celebration. I totally agree wit meh gyul yes. I hope next year is not like this, or maybe I just need to visit different fetes from now on. Sad to say but now I go hadda stereotype the fetes to make sure of t he type of crowd that will be there.

Broward Caribbean Carnival, The People’s Carnival

Finally to shed some light on Broward carnival we have a venue. The 2007 Broward Caribbean Carnival will be held at the Fort Lauderdale Stadium AKA Lockhart Stadium.
Now I will be perfectly honest with all yuh, after all these issues I myself have decided to go all the way to Miami carnival this year despite the fact that I live in Broward only b/c all the last minute drama rel turned me off this year. Now besides the fact that some of the bands I guess felt the same & switched over to Miami as well, well hmmmmm. Broward to me I just think will be a big flop this year. I feel so bad for the committee at this point and for the bands registered to play already.
Last year I was at Markham park & swore to all my frinds that Broward was it boi, but now I have nothin' to back that one up so to Miami here I come even though I hate the drive, & I will be bringing all yuh some rel great pictures.
If any of you will be visiting the Broward Caribbean Carnival here is some info 1301 NW 55th Street, Ft. Lauderdale FL. 33309 , 9am-11pm. No Coolers in the Park.

City rejects Caribbean carnival at regional park. Miramar leaders refused Wednesday to allow an international carnival to be held at the city's regional park Oct. 7.Posted on Thu, Sep. 06, 2007

A sharply divided Miramar City Commission shot down a request from organizers of a Caribbean carnival to hold the event in the city.
''The ultimate deciding factor is past performance,'' said Commissioner Yvonne Garth, who voted against letting the carnival be held in Miramar Regional Park Oct. 7.
Commissioner Troy Samuels and Mayor Lori Moseley joined Garth.
E-mails and letters about the group's past events at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and Markham Park in Sunrise caused city leaders concern.
Representatives from Lockhart Stadium and Markham Park complained about trash left after the event. And Markham Park had about 25,000 attendees at Carnival last year, although the park can hold only about 15,000 people.
Miramar Regional Park also can accommodate only about 15,000 people.

LOTS OF ISSUES
Miramar staff had been working closely with organizers to come up with a plan to control crowds and traffic.
Miramar said organizers would have to have a $2-million insurance policy and 50 police officers to work the event. Also, the city required off-site ticket sales.
Commissioners Winston Barnes and Fitzroy Salesman voted for the five-year-old international event.
Organizers of the Broward Caribbean Carnival said the event is a major economic boost to Broward County and would help showcase Caribbean culture.
About 26 percent of Miramar's population is Caribbean in origin.
Salesman argued that since there were no incidents of crime or structural damage at previous carnivals, Miramar should give the event a chance.
''There was no human tragedy,'' Salesman said. ``What you are talking about is garbage that can be cleaned up.

''WORTH $60 MILLION?
But that was not enough to persuade the majority on the commission.
''I'm not sure they can handle it operationally,'' Samuels said.
Broward Caribbean Carnival Board member John Beckford said that the commissioners should have looked at the tourism dollars that the event would generate for the region.
Organizers estimated they pump $60 million into the local economy. Organizers say the international event drums up business for local eateries and hotels.
''We were all ready to make the accommodations that the city wanted,'' Beckford said.Beckford said he has no idea where the Carnival will be held.

Labor Day!!!

Well as Labor Day has now come to an end I must say I had a blast. I had the most fun I have had in a long time.
I had the pleasure of playing mas with the Red Warriors as I also ended up being on there committee. I have to big them up. They did a great job & this was their first year on the parkway & I can pretty much guarantee that they will return bigger & harder in 2008.

Well as most of you may know today was the grand opening for all Tribe TLC card holders. I had the pleasure of registering today on line & although I hated the anticipation of having to wait & having the delay I must say registration was quiet easy.
I myself decided to play in a section that I ended up falling in love with, Water Nymph.

Give her family some peace..., Henry, a recent graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, flew down from New York for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate her sister's 16th birthday. The Henry sisters had been staying with their aunt and cousin in Miami Gardens for the weekend and planned to fly home May 29. The night before she disappeared, Henry told her family she was getting a ride to Peppers from a friend. Her sister stayed home. A videotape taken by a promotional group at Peppers shows Henry at the club. But she never made it home. Calls placed to Henry's cell phone went straight to her voice mail. The petite woman was last seen wearing a black dress with a white tank top underneath and brown heels. She was carrying a brown clutch purse. Henry, who has long bronze hair, is 5'2'' and 110 pounds. ''It's been very hard. She is not the kind of girl to run off. If anyone has seen her, I am asking that you please come forward,'' Henry's mother said Wednesday. ''No one at Peppers knows anything,'' said Emily Chin, whose family owns Peppers Cafe. ''I just hope that her mother finds her.'' Chin added that Peppers employees didn't know Henry was missing until they saw her story in the news. A vigil was held at Henry's college campus in New York Wednesday, the school said in a news release. Miami-Dade Detective Roy Rutland said police are looking for information regarding the driver of a dark-colored four-door Acura Integra, who picked Henry up at her aunt's house. Alleged JFK Terror Plot

The whole country was abuzz yesterday as word spread that two men - one a Trinidadian, the other a Guyanese - were arrested in T&T in connection with a plot to blow up fuel lines at the John F Kennedy Airport in New York.

The two, Kareem Ibrahim and Abdul Kadir, were amongst four suspects who one US Justice Department official describe as "al Qaeda wannabes" in a CNN report.

A third man Russell Defreitas, an American citizen native to Guyana, was held in New York, while a fourth, Abdel Nur, a Guyanese, was said to be at large in T&T. The four will be charged with conspiring to blow up jet fuel supply tanks and pipelines at JFK International Airport in New York. Defreitas was arraigned in a New York court yesterday.

A Justice Department statement said the men began planning the assault on January 6. The criminal complaint against the men alleges that the plot tapped into an international network of Muslim extremists from the United States, Guyana and T&T.

"We consider this plot to have been credible, with an intent to commit acts of violence, but yet not fully operational," a law enforcement official told CNN. According to the criminal complaint, Defreitas identified targets and escape routes and assessed airport security.

CNN noted that officials said the "defendants obtained satellite photographs of JFK airport and its facilities from the Internet and traveled frequently in the United States, Guyana and T&T to discuss their plans and solicit the financial and technical assistance of others". In one conversation recorded by the FBI, Defreitas discusses an incident he says motivated him to strike JFK. He claim he saw military equipments being shipped to Israel, including missiles, that he found would be used to kill Muslims.

"Any time you hit Kennedy, it is the most hurtful thing to the United States," Defreitas said, according to a recording played to US reporters. "To hit John F Kennedy, wow...! They love John F Kennedy likes if he's the man....If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning. You can kill the man twice." He said he "wanted to do something to those bastards." In another taped conversation with his alleged conspirators last month, Defreitas compared the plot to attack JFK Airport with the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, saying: "Even the Twin Towers can't touch it. This can destroy the economy of America for some time." according to Justice officials.

The plot was reportedly revealed when the planners tried to recruit a person who was a law enforcement informant, sources said. JFK handles on an average more than 1,000 flights daily, about half of which are international flights. Each year, the airport processes about 45 million passengers and more than 1.5 million tons of cargo, with an estimated value of $120 billion.

Toronto Revellers will be adding a new section in to their theme "Viva Las Vegas." The theme will be "Sin City" (designed by Royette of TV's Caribbean Vibrations, currently in it's fifth year.)

Pakistan Police Arrest Sex Change Couple

Pakistan police arrest a wife & husband which was born a woman & underwent a sex reassignment surgery 16 years ago. Wife & husband are accused of lying about the husbands gender to a court in eastern Pakistan.Father of the bride is now requested that the marriage be annulled under the grounds that a marriage of two people of the same sex is against Islam.

Husband Shumail Raj, 31, had brought the case to the courts requesting protection from harassment from their relatives, however earlier in the month the Lahore High Court ordered to arrest Raj & his wife Shahzina Tariq, 26, for lying to the court.Raj had advised the court that he was indeed a male, but a court appointed panel ruled that Raj was female whose breasts & uterus were removed in a gender reassignment surgery. Raj finally told a court appointed Dr. that he underwent the surgery at the age of 15 when he noticed a change in his voice & began to grow facial hair. The court appointed medical panel found Raj had no penis & the vagina had been surgically closed.

After the married couples arrest on Sunday, Raj insists that the surgery made him a man & that he had married Tariq to save her from an arranged marriage.

"I decided to help her out when she came to me with the problem. She told me that one of her uncles wants to sell her to pay off a debt," Raj told The Associated Press by telephone from a police station in Faisalabad, the pair's hometown.

"I had told Shahzina that I have had two operations and I am not a male. But she said that it was not a problem for her. She said she just needs protection," Raj said. He referred to himself both as male and not male during the interview.

Tariq said she was aware of Raj's surgery, and they married for her protection.

"I knew that Shumail was not a male. She had some problem due to the operations, but I begged her for protection," she said, referring to her husband as a woman throughout the interview.

"We had planned to leave Faisalabad to settle elsewhere permanently," Tariq said by phone.

Aslam Tareen, a senior police officer, said that police will wait for orders from the court, where Raj and Tariq will appear on Tuesday, before further investigating the case, including the claim that Tariq's uncle wanted to sell her to pay off his debt. The couple have not yet been charged with any wrongdoing, Tareen said.

After their arrest at a relatives home in Lahore, Raj and Tariq were moved to Faisalabad, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) to the west, Tareen said.

Island Elite Band Launch

Last night was di band launching for one of the bands for Broward Carnival, Island Elite mas. The theme, if you didn't already know is "Into the West". The Launching was held at Big Phat Fish in miami & turned out real nice.

As I go on with my work in progress I have learned some new things.

ATL Carnival Come & Gone

Well I just get back from Atlanta Carnaival yesterday & have been updating the site ever since.

I have to admit, this year Atlanta Carnival wasn't as great as it has been in the past.

The venue was really innconvenient as far as the entry to the park & where the show was being held.

The festes were not as crowded which then made the fetes not as exciting. I have to say the fete I went to on Friday which I will only say was the only fete that had any performance & I did not even get to view the show as the fete was so boring I couldn't even wait. The performance was supposed to have started by 2am & I was there till almost 3am & nope, nuttn.

Project in the Works

I had mentioned in my last blog entry I had a surprise coming up & well it is finally almost all set. I had planned to have my special project all done & set by last Friday, unfortunatly it didn't end up that way but it is well on it's way.
My sister & law & I have started a website dedicated to Carnival & not just Trinidad Carnival but to the Carnivals all over the world. Ok, so I had read Saucy's blog a while back about her joining the Facebook site & I really didn't take a look at the site b/c I already have a Hi5 profile & this blog so I really didn't even take it inot concideration but, well I have a childhood friend dat I still manage to stay in contact with that lives in Canada & she invited me to become a member. I still had curiousity since I had recognized the name of the site since I saw Saucy write her blog on joining b/c of the Tribe profile that was there. ATL Memorial Day Carnival

Aight so it looks like my chances of going to Atlanta Gerogia's Carnival (which is Memorial day weekend) are good. I am still kinda debating but I am leaning more towards going only b/c I am honestly craving some Carnival. Goooorsh like ah rel catch it bad. Lol!
I have gone every year for the past 4 years to ATL for Carnival & to be honest I have a lil' secret. Every year I does go to almost all di fetes, but have only gone twice to di actual parade. Iz not b/c I haven't wanted to, iz jus dat I have been so tired & to be honest AtL's carnival hasn't really developed like say Miami Carnival has. This year however I have heard from a reliable source dat there will be more bands dis year including one from a well known DJ in ATL. You will see who it is shortly i jus doh wanna disclose dat jus yet until di launch (I promised I wouldn't).
So yes, all yuh may see my on di road for ATL carnival, feten & limin. For all yuh dat interested in going ATL Carnival you can see details on peach carnival it have di bands, fetes, & other event listings on dat site. See yuh deh, maybe. ;)

Laaaawd! Ah had to follow up on Saucy Diva's blog on the Carnival Baby blues. Ah rel feeling it bad eh. I have been back to Florida since Feb. 23 & ah still surfing di net daily looking for pictures of Tribe or any of the fetes I had gone to to see if it have any pics floating around of myself & my hubby or any of my frens. Ah still lookin at Saucy blog daily cuz ah rel get excited when she postin tings like dis band announce dis theme & dis wesite have pics out. My modda in law been at my house since she get back from TnT & we sit deh daily talking about we plans for 2K8 Carnival. Now here is di ting, ah rel gettin di blues b/c as I talkin about all dem tings, readin or looking at these websites, I wishin I was still in TnT experiencing di road.
I am still debating on flyin to ATL for deh Carnival which is cumin up May for Memorial day weekend. I normally go every year but I had sais to myself I wouldn't go this year b/c it was nuttn like TnT Carnival but now I think I am jus trying to feel anything remotly close to a carnival feelin. I also looking at dat list of all di Carnivals through out di year seeing which ones I could possibly make it to. Lol! Laaaaawd! Maybe I will see some of you soon jumpin up at some Carnival deh. ;)

My Birthday Celebration!

So I went to Benihana's yesterday to celebrate my b-day & as usual I loved it. I loooooove dat restaurant. For all yuh in Trinidad all yuh will have it jus now. Dem building one in Trincity mall. I deffenately reccomend it for anyone who has not been there.
We had a family celebration, it was my hubby, 2 children, my parents & my in laws. It was my parents & in laws first time deh & they were very pleased wit the food quality & abundance. For those of you not familiar wit Benihanas it is a teppan-yaki Japanese restaurant where the chefs cook the food right in front of you at the table hibachi-style & dem does do all sorts of tricks, some chefs have great sense of humor. I had my usual, twin lobster tails mmmmmmmmmmmm! they make the fried rice in front of you as well & I love it. Desert.......wow! They sang happy birthday to me & brought me my favorite desert which is the Banana tempura which is a deep fried banana in tempura batter & ice cream on top. Ahhhh! Talk about heaven. When all yuh get di chance to go GO! Trust me yuh wouldn't regret it.

So I went to Trini Jungle Juice this morning to see if there was anything new & decided to look at lil' bitts video for Ah lil' bit & much to my surprise I recognized one of the outfits she was rockin. I was lookin hard boi den it hit me, it was an IP costume. She & di male dancer in di video was wearing di Raiders of the Desert costume. So this now brings dis question to mind, did she maybe play in IP? Anyone know? I dunno if she did I didn't play wit IP & I honestly didn't hear anything about she even playin mas. Den again Carnival does be so big she coulda played & no one said anything cuz iz no biggy ent? Anyway I jus thought dat was interesting. So I must admit, since I have returned I miss all di Trini foods. I did buy di Naparima cook book while in Trini which I had been wanting forever & a day but still. I have used it since I get here but I wah some bake & shark, I miss meh Mario's Pizza, doubles isn't di same here, & roti it hadda go far to get. Laaaaawd! Like I said in meh b-day blog, food iz di way to meh heart. Mmmmmmmmm! Ah only tasting all dem tings eh. Meh mouth wattering. Laaaaawd someone Fedex meh some bake & shark please! Well, well, well. I never thought it would cum to dis in my life nuh. I am rel vex right now so I am jus letting all yuh know, dis blog entry right here is jus me venting. I honestly try not to keep so many frens. I have been dat way as long as I can remember & reason being is b/c I tend to be a giver & bend over backwards for who I think are my frens & somehow, always get bun. I keep the few friends I have very close & try to treat dem as I would like to be treated. Yet once again, lil' mrs. TBI get bun.
I wrote a blog entry di odda day on my lessons learned for all of you who remember. I wrote it b/c dais infact the things I learned & I wrote it b/c dais wah I felt & hay, not for nuttn but dais exactly wah blogs are for no? I mean since I have started dis blog it has been about sharing the first experience in Trinidad for Carnival & gettin some insight & I never once wrote a comment directed to anyone.
Well anyway. Today may be my first blog entry dat I will being doing dat(writing specifically about someone else) as shitty as it may seem I will b/c I had the pleasure of oppening an e-mail today that basically was stating that I was a selfish person & ungrateful & now I am dis-owned as a friend. Normally I would have been hurt, but to be honest I am not only b/c this person rather than talking to me about the situation & asking me if that blog entry was directed to dem jus assumed it was which would mean somehow maybe they felt some guilt? I dunno wah it was but shit, a rel fren woulda called & asked or if dem had a problem wit me woulda said it straight up in meh face. I am a very honest person, call me bold faced if yuh like I really doh care but I say it how it is especially if you are my friend b/c I don't like to mislead & I sure as hell doh like to be mislead.
Dis person who sent di e-mail may read this blog entry & well dat person asked me not to respond to di e-mail so dis is how I am venting which I believe I have every right to. So if dem take dis blog entry personal sorry but iz my right to vent, I mean no disrespect & if dais di way you take it, in disrespect so be it. I cyaa help anyone think a different way especially if dem not talking to me & has decided to no longer be my friend. I have absolutely no time for childish school games.

A lil' history

Ok ok! So I was reading Saucy message board jus now & it had me lmao! All yuh too funny talkin about meh accent & meh winin skills eh. Lol! Jokes jokes. So I decided based on dat I would jus add a lil' history lesson to my blog on how I came to be Trini By Injection.
It all started about 6 years ago. I was wukin at an airline here in Florida. I met dis Trini boi whom I befreinded but never even thought dat we would have been more b/c at dat time I had a man & he had a "fren wit benefits"(men eh), so we stayed frens. Things however started to get a lil' rocky between the boy that I was wit & I & who betta to vent to den my new fren ent? Well after all di advise & di tears we noticed dat we had a lil' more den frenship between us. Well, den meh Trini fren decided to go on vacation & while he was gone I decided, dis chupidy need to go(di boy I was wit at di time),So I told him to take a hike. Lol!
Well den after meh fren come back from he vacation he came to visit me we had so much fun jus talkin dat I decided "Maybe it would be ok if he slept over". So I invited my fren to sleep over he said ok & he still sleeping over 6 years lata. Yup peeps, he still wit meh crazy behind. Lol! We ended up getting married 1 year lata. We now have to kids & a new house. So I guess you could say we doing rel well together.
OH!!! I almost forgot, where Trini By Injection came from! Well, it had another co wuker dat happened to be Trini as well & we would make jokes wit her, she would give me my trini slang lessons daily & one day she jus outta di blue tell meh yous Trini By Injection gyul. Lol! So ah tell she ah go reserve all rights to dat name. So as for di accent, all yuh now know where ah get it from, now as for di winin, hmmmmmm! I will leave all dat to all yuh imagination eh. Lol! I know all yuh thinkin some kinda slackness nuh. Hehe!

Lesson learned

Well as you know dis was my first time going to TnT during di Carnival season. I deffinately learned alot as did my hubby. We went wit di intentions of having a good time no matter what & we did despite some lil' snafoos. I decided to make a list of my lessons learned so dat next year I know betta.

Gettin a guest house. Dat drive from Arima when yuh tired is hell laaaawd, & forget tryin to catch a maxi from town at dat time. Which leads me into #2
Ah rentin meh own car. I hate depending on people for a ride or having to wait on people or especially having to leave somewhere when deh say.
I also learned next year I wanna be deh for Alternative concept.
I also learned dat I need to start gettin fit sooner next year den I did this year.
I also learned dat I need to break in my sneakers alot more den I thought.
I also learned dat next year I will be doing what I want not wah everyone else wants in regards to fetes & other activities. (Which will be alot easier having meh own car).
I need my own cell phone!
I also learned dat as bad is it may seem, it is actually beneficial to be in di back by di pee pee truck( I hated dat walk).
I learned dat after all these years, my hubby & I are still di best of feten partners & now Carnival partners.

I think I learned more but cyaa think off the top of my head. I will add dem if I think of any more. Wah all yuh odda first timers learn? I would love to hear yuh feedback.

Fist Experience Part IV - Carnival Tuesday!

Carnival Tuesday! Di last Lap. Well I dunno I had heard all dis time before ever playin mas dat Monday mas was betta den Tuesday man but to be honest wit you, I had more fun on Tuesday den Monday. I does get on bad anyhow but something jus rel catch me on Tuesday & I rel outdid any odda time I get on bad. Maybe di alcohol was stronget dat day I dunno but Woi! I now looking & thinking back to Monday & Tuesday & I really doh think anything could top off my Tuesday.
I even took a nap during lunch on Tusday. Lol! Whata story dat is. I had to go to the restroom & it was right before lunch & I could not find di pee pee truck anywhere, well I ended up using di mens restroom at KFC & when I went back to find my hubby, well he was not deh, so I jus walked to di camp, still, no sign of hubby. So since I couldn't find him I decided well I will eat lunch & I am sure he lookin for me too. Finished my lunch, still no hubby. Well I needed to refresh myself for di rest of di day so.....NAP TIME! Lol! I ended up falling asleep at di camp after lunch(you know di itis does catch up nuh). As I woke up about 15 min before we hit di road again I ran into some friends which said he was indeed lookin for & to stay wit dem. Finally found him after about 2 hrs but iz ok we had fun still after all dat madness. Lol! so I guess dais my Tuesday story. I had a hell of a time even when it rained, actually maybe I enjoyed it more when it rained as we crossed di first judging point. MADNESS BOI!

Ok so before I get to my final First Experience blog entry I jus have to say dat I am very excited. When I looked at Saucy blog yesterday mornin I saw she had added the pics from the Tribe Magazine & behold, deh was meh picture. Lol! Iz di lil' tings in life does make meh happy ok. Is nah a big picture but I am in deh, jus look rel close. I am wearin a pink corset & my loving husband is standing next to me.

First Experience part III - Carnival Monday!!!

Well wah ah go say about carnival Monday exept it was madness. My hubby had told me he was not going to play mas & whata surprise when he told me Sunday night dat yes, he had registered long time now. I was extrememly excited as I really wanted to share this first experience wit him. Although he is a Trini born & raised he himself hadn't played before either.
Monday came & off the 2 of us went after cumin home from jouvay we hit the showers & headed straight to town for our first experience in playin Monday mas. Needless to say, I had one if the best times of my life. From the drinks to the food my hubby & I were very pleased. I was really pleased wit di security on Monday. My sister in law & a friend of mines was in IP & I heard dat di security was not all dat so I was very thanksfull for Tribe security. Even in Trini revellers I heard di security was not all dat to my surprise. A couple of my aunty's play wit dem every year & I heard it was all kinda people in deh gettin drinks wit out actually bein a masquarader.
I met all kinds of new people, ran into people I hadn't seen in years, bumped into a couple of bloggers which I was rel excited about. BDW Saucy I was lookin for you on Monday & Tuesday & could not spot you anywhere! Lol! Wuz up wit dat eh? Next time nuh.

Jouvay!!!!! Den deh was mud, & paint, & chocolate?
Lol! Well like I had mentioned in my blog entry prior to leaving to TnT I was not jumpin up in a jouvay band & I didn't but I did storm into BLUE!!!!! Laaaawd have mercy I looked like a smurf when I get home yes. Lol! I had so much fun jouvay.

I met a couple of my friends & family in town wit meh hubby in my I doh really care wah happens to dem clothes. Lol! My sis in law decided since she wasn't jumpin up in a jouvay band to make up she own so she painted on meh shirt Jumbie crew lol! (You will see in di pic, look closely). I had to admit, no one had to creep up on meh as I was willing to jump in di paint & loved having people pour it on me, only ting was taking dat paint off was a B&*%H. Laaaawd! My spunge was blue by di time I finish washing it off & still I went Monday mas wit some blue spots. Woi! It was soooooo worth it though.
My hubby only sayin how ghetto I is. Laaawd so b/c I enjoyin meh self now ah ghetto? Nah! I jus like to have fun! Like di song say "Gyuls jus wanna have fun!" So dais my jouvay experience. I have to say I will deffinately be stormin anotha band next year, sorry but I jus doh see a reason to pay to play in a band except for maybe di drinks but to be honest you does be so drunk from di party yuh jus came from to notice & ah does get on bad jus fine wit out it oui. Lol!

Aigh aight, so my experience was di shit boi! Woi Woi!!!! It was all I had imagined if not more. So I had to split my first experience blog into more den one part only b/c my experience was so grand I doh think I could write all in one blog entry. Well first off, I tried my best to do fete after fete after fete & I feel I did a pretty good job. Di night I came in which was Tuesday Feb. 13 2007 I went to Eyes Wide shut. I had a hell of a time!

On Wedesnday we went to SOS & Bacchanal Wedesday I had fun at both only I wish I had stayed loner at Bacchanal Wednesday but my ride had to wuk di next mornin so I kinda had no choice but to leave after only being deh for about an hour & a half.

Thursday soon came & we went to Ortinola Beach house which I believe was one of di best parties we went to. We all had a ball of a time drank meh bamsy off & danced di night away till it was time to go home. We didn't end up feten dat night so we had a lil' rest even though I was still wanting to fete again.

Friday we went to Imagine & I am so sorry I didn't bring my camara but I had so much fun at dat party. It was semi inclusive but we manage to have fun no matter where we go all inlusive or not. Saturday we decided on Dawn & boi was dat someting boi. Now I know I said Ortinola was di best fete we went to but I think dis onw out did Ortinola fo sure. Dis was by far di best fete we went to.

Well den di carnival beggins but I will continue on tomorrow. Lata!

Jouvay!!!

What is jouvay? Well, I had to find the history of jouvay b/c I wasn't able to put it in my own words. I got the info off of http://www.itzcaribbean.com. I have never been to a jouvay celebration not even here in the US so I am extremely excited to be goin in Trinidad for the first time. I have decided not to play in a jouvay band b/c I figured all the money I have spent on my costume & all di fetes I might as well just go & jump up for free right.? Lol! I am looking forward to get rel dutty! Her is di history on Jouvay:

J'ouvert or Jouvay is at the heart of Trinidad carnival, and is also celebrated in other Eastern Caribbean islands. The name J'ouvert originates from the French jour ouvert, meaning day break or morning, and signals the start of the bacchanalia that is Carnival. Jouvert is highly traditional and full of symbols culture and heritage. It is steeped in tradition and playing mud mas involves participants known as Jab Jabs. covering themselves – from head to toe - and others in paint, chocolate, mud, white powder or anything for that matter. It is Jouvert custom that no one is clean, and a common site to see a newcomer being hugged by a muddy revelers. This traditional part of Carnival starts at around 2 in the morning and finishing after sunrise. Calypso and soca music are the dominating sounds of Jouvert in Trinidad the mass of revellers takes the street party winning and chipping their way to the savannah in Port of Spain in the early hours of Lundi Gras, before the daytime carnival parades. The roots of Jouvert in Trinidad go back 200 years, with the arrival of French plantation owners. The French never colonised Trinidad, however elements of their culture remained. J’Ouvert evolved from the Canboulay festivals in the 1800’s, which were night time celebrations where the landowners dressed up and imitated the negres jardins (garden slaves). Following emancipation the newly freed slaves took over canboulay, now imitating their former masters imitating them.Canboulay revellers, who carried lighted cane torches, were seen as a potential risk by the authorities, and the tension mounted leading to the Canboulay riots. It was eventually banned, and then was re established as Jouvert.The spectacular costumes represent characters and events from the history and folklore. Moko Jumbie Bats, Bookmen, Baby dolls, jab molassie, devil mas are all traditional Carnival characters that capture the elements of the past, and continue to tell the story.

So here I am jus over a week away from leaving Florida to head dong to red red paradise, yes I am talking about Trinidad! Woi Woi!!!! I am so extremely excited. I cyaa wait to get deh & start feten wit all meh posse in TnT.
I am so dumbfounded dat my hubby is now so excited. Since I registered for Tribe, he has only been telling me stop talking about Carnival & ting like it bodda him, so I have tried not to talk about it around him. He has been like " Oh goooorsh all yuh does talk about is Carnival dis, carnival dat. Find something else to talk about nuh." Lol! Now it has been di reverse, like now di countown is on oh something boi. Di last week he been so hype. " Wah fetes we goin to babes? We going to dis fete? How about dis one?" Laaaaaawd! So thank God now we have almost all our tickets for di fetes we wah go to. So now as if I doh do it wnough in my house & wuk, he only playin Trinibashment 919 & Red in di house. All soca, all di time eh. Lol! I doh mind it gettin me hype to.
So like I had mentioned we have most of our tickets to di fetes we wah go to thanks to my lil' brodda in Trinidad. Di only ting I aint seein no where is Bacchanal Wednesday. Wuz up wit dat? Can anyone tell me please. Dais one fete I was lookin forward to going to & I aint even know di price or if di tickets even on sale as yet. Any info is greatly appreciated. ;)
BDW, did I mention I am extremely excited. Lol! I am sure I did, I think part of di reason why is dat all dis week I have been purchasing my last min. tings so I am jus reminded of how much fun I am expecting to have. 25 Years in di Making

Who doesn't like Mr. Machel Montano? Well if anyone doesn't dem out deh gorsh foresaken mind b/c dis man here is boss for rel. Cyaa nobody preform, attract a crowd, or have as much originality as dis man. Di amount of energy dis man does bring into his preformance is incredible. I cyaa wait to see him in TnT as dis will be di first performance dat I will be witnessing in Trinidad. I have seen him many times here in Miami & even Atlanta but I am sure nuttn compares to home right? Well I am so excited dat I have decided dat despite di fact dat my flight arrives on Tuesday the 13 of February I will most deffinately be making it to Eyes wide shut for his performance no matter what.
I had to dedicate at least one of my blog entries to dis talanted man & I think it goes well wit di fact dat he is celebrating 25 years in di busness wit his whole High Deffinition & ting. I have added his bio from his site to show the milestones thru Mr. Montano's career. I hope you enjoy reading about his 25 years in di making.

MACHEL MONTANO Bio

Machel Montano is a young Trinidadian who is edging his name among the elite in the music industry. Machel and his band Xtatik has been the premier soca band in the Caribbean for more than a decade and have established themselves as the leading draw at major events in New York City , Miami , Toronto , and London and throughout the Caribbean Diasporas. Machel is recognized as the leading performer in the soca music genre and is highly regarded as well as a songwriter, producer and band leader.
Machel began his career in 1982 at age seven. As early as 1984, he formed his band Pranasonic Express now called XTATIK. Machel’s debut album “TOO YOUNG TO SOCA”, released in 1985, was an instant hit which earned him many rave reviews and standing ovations wherever he performed.

In 1986, he appeared on Star Search in Hollywood bringing Soca Music to the screens of US National Television. He was described as a Stevie Wonder of Soca. Machel and XTATIK have performed with many popular international entertainment personalities including: Freddie Jackson, TLC, Third World , Shaggy, El Debarge, Destiny’s Child, The Boyz, Kris Kross, Buju Banton, Ziggy Marley, Garnet Silk, Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killa and many others.

I read this article on Red 96.7 fm & boi I cyaa believe dat Barbados being so close to Trinidad dem hadda pay dat kinda money come carnival time. High fares seem to be discouraging potential revelers in Barbados from booking last minute flights to Trinidad and Tobago for carnival. According to a report from the Barbados nation newspapers, while early bookers would pay around 300 or 400 U.S dollars, some ticket prices are now between 500 and 800 U.S dollars and persons are being discouraged by the high fares. Aight, so I had to write about meh favorite female soca artist.
I will deffenitely try to be at all di fetes dat she will be preforming at during carnival as I normally do here in Miami & when I go to Atlanta Carnival. I find she does always give a killa preformance& I never been disapointed by her preformances.
I admire Destra for being such a strong person & for coming as far as she has & dais one reason why I had to add her profile here.
I will admit dat I am extremely jealous of dem abs, I wish mines was like dat but I guess I hadda wuk rel hard. Lol!

Is she really is playin wit Tribe? I will be more den excited if she is. I was already excited as I saw the blog entry on Saucy Diva's blog wit her pic in the Warrior Spirit costume. Profile : Destra Garcia
Destra Garcia is the oldest of four siblings, she was born, on November 10th, 1977. Destra was raised in the community of Desperlie Crescent, Laventille in eastern Port of Spain, and attended St. James Secondary School where she discovered her passion for singing and music. She not only won her school's Calypso Monarch title for five consecutive years, she composed every one of her songs.

At the age of 18 she joined a quartet called PSYKE which disbanded after only one year. Following the demise of the group, Destra attended the School of Business and Management earning a diploma in Sales Management.

In 1999 Roy Cape took notice of her single album titled - “Ah Have A Man Already” with the group Third Base and invited her to join the Roy Cape All Stars Band as one of the lead vocalists.
She pursued a solo career briefly, but eventually joined the band Atlantik in late 2002. She remains the frontline singer for Atlantik and has forged a successful songwriting partnership with Kernal Roberts (until 2005 inclusive), churning out hits such as "Wha Yuh Want", "Negative Vibes" and "Bonnie & Clyde".

In 2003 Destra released her first album “Red, White, Black” which included her hit duet “It's Carnival” with fellow Soca artist Machel Montano. The song became the virtual anthem of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival that year and is widely known throughout the Caribbean.

Destra is famous for her style. Due to her radical clothing choices consisting primarily of revealing clothing such as tight, short pants, and low-cut bra tops, she has captivated audiences during her performances. On stage, Destra is wild and explosive in her movements and vocals, sometimes seemingly performing in her own world due to her passion. Destra has expressed her music and fashion choices as a merger betweeen American punk rock and Soca. This mix is evident in the instruments used in Destra's music, as she frequently utilizes rock guitar acoustics with underlying Soca rythms.

Destra won the Road March title in 2003 at the Labour Day Carnival in Brooklyn, and also placed third in the Trinidad and Tobago Soca Monarch competition in that same year.
She is yet to win either the Road March or Soca Monarch title in Trinidad. Despite this, she has become success in the local music industry, specializing in pop-sounding soca compositions as well as fusion music encompassing aspects of East Indian culture.

Destra's released her first CD in 2003, entitled Red White & Black. Her second CD, Laventille was released in 2005.

In 2006, Caribbean Beat magazine described Destra's music as "the kind of sound that a young person, living at the crossroads of cultures and technologies that is Trinidad and Tobago today, is likely to produce, and the breeziness of her music may well act as an antidote to the hard edge which often characterises life not only in Trinidad and Tobago, but in many other corners of the globe.”

Also in 2006, the Digicel mobile telecommunications group named Destra as its spokesperson in a two-year endorsement deal.

My friend & I are always doing research on line, mainly for things to help us look betta during carnival. Not dat we look bad, but we jus wanna look close to flawless if at all possible. LOL! So I was happy when she snt this web link to me especially since I am a veteran to waxing. I have been waxing for over 10 yrs from legs, under arms, to brazilian bikini area ( not jus di line). Dis site has a lot of helpful hints for you ladies going to wax before carnival, if you don't plan to wax at least shave please, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should have to see anything crawling out from between yuh legs dais jus nasty ok. Thanks Stella;) LOL! Here it is:

Bikini Line Care

After a Brazilian Bikini Wax, it’s pretty important to start looking after your bikini line area. Here are some basics, and just so you know, I’m not a dermatologist; I’m just speaking from experience and trial and error:

1. No heavy creams or oils
It makes sense that when you pull a hair out of its follicle, there’s going to be a miniscule hole where the hair used to belong. My personal belief is that when you apply product to that area, the follicle gets jammed up resulting in unwanted ingrown hair and blocked follicles. A blocked follicle looks like a black head. If you experience this, buy yourself some exfoliating mitts from a pharmacy or beauty supply (you should be doing this regardless) and start to exfoliate EVER SO LIGHTLY in a gentle, circular motion. I would also recommend exfoliating the night before a wax; it gets rid of any dead skin cells etc. Don’t exfoliate after a wax, wait at least 3 to 4 days.

Product Recommended: Desert Essence “Thoroughly Clean Facial Wash”. Get it from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, costs about $4.99.

2. Ingrown hairs
Yuck! We hate them, we pick them and stick things in them, and still they remain, and sometimes they have the nerve to multiply! Why? I don’t know, but I am going to attempt to explain how to prevent them and how to treat them if you get them. I’ve noticed that there are certain people who are more prone to ingrown hairs – like, for example, ME! I have thick and curly hair. When my hair grows back, it doesn’t grow back to the surface straight, it grows back in a hook/curl. So when it gets to the surface, it sometimes doesn’t break through. You can see these hairs through your skin, they are just beneath the surface and OH SO tempting to pick. I’ve had success with exfoliation (not with a product, but with mitts) and the facial wash that I have recommended above. Don’t use salt scrubs etc., as I find these to be too abrasive and perfumed. These things just irritate the situation and once again, plug up your follicles. So, if you have thick, curly or coarse hair; sorry, you are just more susceptible.

I’ve also noticed clients with ingrown problems along the side and top of their bikini lines. I think wearing tight underwear or jeans irritates the skin, or pushes down on your skin, inhibiting the proper growth of your hair. I know that sounds wacky, but just imagine a fine hair trying to grow back after a wax and is being pushed back by your fashionable new knickers or pants. Not good.

Treat your bikini line skin like the skin on your face. It’s a delicate area and should not be ignored.

Product recommended: Desert Essence Blemish Stick or Burt’s Bees Blemish. Get them at Trader Joe' s or Whole Foods. Warm compresses will also help bring up the hair.

If you are a naughty pimple picker then there is not much help I can send your way. Yes, I know it is satisfying and addictive, I sometimes indulge myself, however, the horrid results of you trying to dig out that pesky ingrown are plentiful. You can end up permanently scarring your skin. I’ve seen clients with awful scars. In the trade, we call them “ice pick” scars. When you push down on an ingrown or red bump, you may see something come out of the top of it. Thinking you have solved it, you wake up the next day only to see another two have popped up. (This will happen on your face too). The problem is that the pushing, forces sebum (oil) and other debris to push out of the follicle through the bottom, rupturing it and causing an infection, which kindly spreads to other follicles. DON’T PICK!!!!

You can also use rubbing alcohol. Just dab it onto the area 3 to 4 times a day. It will dry the bump out.

3. Cleaning your Bikini Area
Very simple. Light exfoliation with your loofah mitts on a daily or nightly basis with squirt of the cleanser and you should be on your way to a glowing, soft as a baby’s bum bikini line. I sometimes use witch hazel on my bikini line; it cleans out any blocked follicles.

Also if you are in the Miami/Ft.Lauderdale area my aunt referred me to this place called Green Wave in Weston they use all natural products & they service there is awsome & might I add that since I have been gowing there I have had less in grown hairs than in di past. Hair issues

Ok so I am so glad I finally decided on what I will be doing wit my hair on Carnival Monday & Tuesday. I had to go to my gyul Beyonce here to get ideas. LOL! I Googled images of her & other artist to get ideas & this is wah I finally came to decide on. I figured it is easy to manage & I wouldn't have to really worry about my hair for 2-3 days.
Now my only problem is now finding how to do my hair for di remaining time I will be in TnT. I mean my hair is rediculously long so blow drying & using di flat iron everyday is out of di question. I am trying to find a couple of up do's dat might be nice for a couple of fetes but I aint see nuttn yet dat catches my eye & says wow to me. I have looked in salon magazines, I have googled almost every female artist from Mariah Carey to JLo. Still, I have come up with nothing. At dis point I am open to suggestions as a matter of fact, I am requesting suggestions please. I need something manageable yet simple & not complicated dat will take all day to do. My sister in law which will be playin mas as well has offered to do my hair but I don't wanna give her a hard time even though I know she wouldn't mind. So this is my dilema at dis point HELP! Please. Send me pictures if you have to, I really doh mind.

Road March 2K7

Carnival Road March, the musical composition played at the judging points along di carnival parade route during carnival time. One of the most prestigious titles in Trinidad Carnival, Mighty Sparrow, & Lord Kitchiner being amongst the most to recieving the title. The Road march title is given out every year. Scoring is based upon a rank and points system by a Carnival committee before the start of the parade.
Now for Carnival 2K7 Road march, who will win di title? My oppinion, so far I believe dat Last lap by Destra & Naya George should have di title dis year. Second to Last lap in my opinion would be Open di Gate by Shurwayne Winchester, Light it up I like to by Patrice & Machel. I am happy Precious sing something dis year, I aint hear anything from she in a while & Black Carpet is a great song. No matter wah doh ah tellin all yuh now, I go be chippin & winin dong di road wit all dem songs & some & anywho I may be drinkin so much I wouldn't even notice wah dem playin deh eh, I would jus be singin di chunes to myself & havin a time. I am jus so super excited & cyaa wait to head dong di road on Monday & Tuesday. Woi! Woi!

Makeup Time!!

I had di pleasure of visiting di Mac cosmetics store on South Beach di odda day wit meh friend. I had a makeup artist do a demo for me to see how di colors would look on me. My friend took some pictures & I am very happy wit how di makeup came out, however now I jus have to see how I will be duplicating it.
The makeup artist was awsome I asked him if I could bring him wit me & he did state dat he would but he is expensive. LOL!! How I wish I could afford him. He did however show me how to apply the primer, colors & eyeliner step by step. My best friend watched as she would like to do something similar but with the fuscia colors. I decided on the green jus b/c as you can see my eyes are green & I thought dat way my eyes & makeup may stand out more as where the fuscia would make my friend skin stand out(she has a beautiful skin color).
I am also planning on adding some jewels here by the brow & maybe not having the brow so dark & I may not do my makeup so dramatic for Monday but only for Tuesdayto compliment my costume. I deffinately recomend if anyone has di chance to go to a cosmetic store where they can have someone apply the colors on you & maybe give you ideas for dramatic eyes for Carnival. I really appreciated it & learned alot about mixin & matchin di colors. I am going to continue to play here wit my shadows & hopefully get it right. Pray for me!

Last min. Decissions, ah stickin!

Ok so I did a blog a while back about not stickin & here I am talkin yesterday wit meh friend how maybe we really should get a hotel for Monday nite. I am really wondering if at dis point we will be able to find one & how much it will cost dis late in di game but we are looking. See the ting is she was stayin by she man & I was stayin by my hubby family but after spending a day of shopping together we decided we really would like to get ready together. Iz a gyul ting I guess! So if anyone has any info on a 1 nite stay at a hotel in POS for 4 people please let me know, I will greatly appreciate it. I am looking at Carnival junction & shopping on odda sites hoping I will run into a good deal. No luck yet. Laaaaaawd! After all dis talk about having everyting done, & here I am, STICKIN!!!! LOL!

I got dem finally!!! My shoes................& the winner ended up being di Puma Turin Leather. I love dem. I ended up getting dem off of another site b/c Zappos did not have my size. I went to www.finishline.com they have a wide variety of shoes as well. I am so happy dat I finally got dat done dat is an extra load of my shoulders. Yay!!!! Now I jus have a few more things to go & I will be done. I jus need a lil' more makeup which I am hoping I will be getting dis weekend & den I done. I cyaa believe it we less den a month a way. Now di only ting I stressin is how I go look in dat costume. I am still worried dat I haven't lost enought weight so I am still working on dat as well. Anywho! Is a wine really jus a wine? I have been married for almost 6 years now & I will be completely honest wit you, I am a very open minded person. I have never been di jealous type so any time my hubby & I have been to a Carnival fete in Miami or in Atlanta I have really never had a problem wit him winin(not grindin) wit someone on di dance floor. But when is a wine really jus a wine? I mean not for nuttn but my hubby & I have come to an agreement dat we only wine wit people dat we are friends wit or know jus to avoid any drama. I mean really, if you in a party & you don't know some people (& woman can be rel trifling) some people can get rel fresh eh & start grindin & ting, dais why my hubby & I came to dis agreement b/c it has happened in di past & it wasn't a pretty scene after.
I think it is essential as well as appropriet dat if you are in a marriage or a commited relationship dat before going to carnival dat these boundaries should be discussed & respected if the relationship is intended to continue there after. I aint lettin know one ruin my carnival especially for a wine when the whole situation could have been avoided from di beggining. My hubby nah playin mas wit me but he did let me know his "rules" on my behavior during carnival. LOL!! We have compromised, I mean yuh cyaa expect to go carnival & not tief a wine on someone eh, it jus wouldn't be carnival. So, in dis case I do have a possee dat I will be rollin wit & I will be winin only on male friends dat my hubby is aware of. Drama avoided! I have seen to many people getting into arguments at fetes & I aint into dat.
SO wit dat, wais your opinion? When is a wine jus a wine?

DOH STICK!!!

So there are 34 days till carnival & those of you who have not booked your flights, hotel or costumes are seriously stickin. My hubby is now kickin himself in di rass b/c he decided to be cheap & weight till last min to buy his ticket to fly to TnT thinkin he would save money & as it get's closer I think he is realizing if it isn't sold out already, then di price is rediculous. Luckily we have friends & family in TnT so we didn't need hotel reservation which we were originally planning but do to unforseen circumstances(money factors) we decided not to. If you haven't already booked your hotel stay or guest house I have found dat there either isn't very much left or iz only crap dais left & by crap I am talking about something dat is far from POS, dem does have poor reviews, are horrible & also I have looked at the areas of di hotels & basically, if your not looking to get mugged, you doh wah stay in dem hotels or guest houses. Costume yuh may not have problems wit unless you had 1 section in mind dat you really were expecting to play in & now iz sold out which again iz another one of my hubby's issues. Now after my section is sold out he decides he would like to play mas wit me. Whatever!!! Anywho! Di lesson here iz DOH STICK!!!! I know iz an Islanders tradition or habbit to wait till di last min(trust me I am a latina & iz ours too), some in my fam iz di same, but doh get mad when things doh wuk out di way you expected eh.
Well......All I know iz I booked everything I needed early(for once), & I think I got a good deal on my air ticket not payin more den $541 round trip from MIA-POS & I will be in TnT for 10 days. My costume, got the section I wanted in di band I wanted, & hotel, well deh I aint need dat now so. Maybe next year my hubby will learn to do everything wit time, den again men is rel stubburn yes.

What is Carnival?

I think many of us surpass the true meaning of Carnival, I myself am guilty of it as well. I think we truly get wrapped up in what band we go play in, getting in shape & how we go look during this festive time. So I jus wanted to add a lil Carnival history here jus to touch base. I was aware of some history but not all & I was surprised to find out alot of it's history & evolution.

So, what is Carnival exactly? Well I went to Toronto-lime jus browsing & found the history deh.Carnival is an annual celebration of life found in many countries of the world. And in fact, by learning more about carnival we can learn more about ourselves and a lot about accepting and understanding other cultures.
Where did the word “carnival” come from?
Hundred and hundreds of years ago, the followers of the Catholic religion in Italy started the tradition of holding a wild costume festival right before the first day of Lent. Because Catholics are not supposed to eat meat during Lent, they called their festival, carnevale — which means “to put away the meat.” As time passed, carnivals in Italy became quite famous; and in fact the practice spread to France, Spain, and all the Catholic countries in Europe. Then as the French, Spanish, and Portuguese began to take control of the Americas and other parts of the world, they brought with them their tradition of celebrating carnival.

African influences on carnival traditions
Important to Caribbean festival arts are the ancient African traditions of parading and moving in circles through villages in costumes and masks. Circling villages was believed to bring good fortune, to heal problems, and chill out angry relatives who had died and passed into the next world. Carnival traditions also borrow from the African tradition of putting together natural objects (bones, grasses, beads, shells, fabric) to create a piece of sculpture, a mask, or costume — with each object or combination of objects representing a certain idea or spiritual force.
Feathers were frequently used by Africans in their motherland on masks and headdresses as a symbol of our ability as humans to rise above problems, pains, heartbreaks, illness — to travel to another world to be reborn and to grow spiritually. Today, we see feathers used in many, many forms in creating carnival costumes.
African dance and music traditions transformed the early carnival celebrations in the Americas, as African drum rhythms, large puppets, stick fighters, and stilt dancers began to make their appearances in the carnival festivities.
In many parts of the world, where Catholic Europeans set up colonies and entered into the slave trade, carnival took root. Brazil, once a Portuguese colony, is famous for its carnival, as is Mardi Gras in Louisiana (where African-Americans mixed with French settlers and Native Americans). Carnival celebrations are now found throughout the Caribbean in Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada, Dominica, Haiti, Cuba, St. Thomas, St. Marten; in Central and South America in Belize, Panama, Brazil; and in large cities in Canada and the U.S. where Caribbean people have settled, including Brooklyn, Miami, and Toronto. Even San Francisco has a carnival!
Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad's carnival is a beautiful example of how carnival can unite the world. For in this small nation, the beliefs and traditions of many cultures have come together; and for a brief five days each year, the whole country forgets their differences to celebrate life!
Like many other nations under colonial rule, the history of Native Americans and African people in Trinidad is a brutal, sad story. Spain and England at different times both claimed Trinidad as their colonies. Under British rule, the French settled in Trinidad, bringing with them their slaves, customs, and culture. By 1797, 14,000 French settlers came to live in Trinidad, consisting of about 2,000 whites and 12,000 slaves. Most of the native peoples (often called the Amerindians) who were the first people to live in Trinidad, died from forced labor and illness.
Carnival was introduced to Trinidad around 1785, as the French settlers began to arrive. The tradition caught on quickly, and fancy balls were held where the wealthy planters put on masks, wigs, and beautiful dresses and danced long into the night. The use of masks had special meaning for the slaves, because for many African peoples, masking is widely used in their rituals for the dead. Obviously banned from the masked balls of the French, the slaves would hold their own little carnivals in their backyards — using their own rituals and folklore, but also imitating their masters’ behavior at the masked balls.
For African people, carnival became a way to express their power as individuals, as well as their rich cultural traditions. After 1838 (when slavery was abolished), the freed Africans began to host their own carnival celebrations in the streets that grew more and more elaborate, and soon became more popular than the balls.
Today, carnival in Trinidad is like a mirror that reflects the faces the many immigrants who have come to this island nation from Europe, Africa, India, and China. African, Asian, and American Indian influences have been particularly strong.
Carnival is such an important aspect of life in Trinidad that many schools believe that sponsoring a carnival band is a way to teach young people about their roots and culture. In Trinidad’s Kiddies Carnival, hundreds of schools and community organizations participate! In this way, communities work together to develop stronger friendships and greater respect for the many cultures that make up Trinidad.

Tribe-Ole Time Something ....Come back again

In dedication to my band of choice Tribe for my first time playin mas I thought I would add a lil' history to my page regarding my costume since the theme dis year is Ole time something...come back again. I mean I couldn't play wit out knowing what di heck di section I was in was all about dat would jus not make any sense to me. My section has sold out at this point with di exeption of frontline, even di men's is sold out which I was really surprised about considering the colors. I am extremely excited as you can probably already tell from all of my blog entries, Lol! I thought dis costume was perfect for me from the beggining so here it goes, the history of:

PIERROT GRENADE

One can identify three phases of development. The first was the Princely Pierrot, designed and portrayed by the French settlers of the late 1780’s and beyond. This richly garbed character would quote passages from Shakespeare and other playwrights and authors in an effort to show off his knowledge and to educate the onlookers.
The second phase was the creation by the freed slaves of two types of Princely Pierrots. As explained by Carnival historians, they were both armed with a long carriage whip and a shorter “bull pistle” for fighting purposes.
The third phase which holds good today, was the Pierrot Grenade or Pierrot from Grenada, bearing in mind that many of the original French planters came from that island. This Pierrot’s costume was of multi-coloured rags probably inspired by the multi-coloured cape of the predecessor Pierrot. A shorter version of the carriage whip is retained. This present day Pierrot teaches how to spell long words by breaking them up in syllables and developing a story on each syllable, preferably in a French patois accent.

New Years Resolution

My new years resolution along with probably half the worlds this year was to get fit, exercise & loose weight. So when I had put a bike on my wish list I expected Santa to give it to me because I had told him I wanted one to get fit for Carnival. Well I thought I didn't get it but much to my surprise my Santa baby got me a belated Christmas gift.
I woke up yesterday morning to take one of my two children to school & there sitting in my garage was a bike. I was so excited I told my son to hurry up so we could ride bikes to his school. Well I made it to his school & I didn't not remember that it was so much wuk to ride a bike, on the way back home from dropping him off I was starting to hurt boi.
So I made it back home relaxed a bit & buy the time I new it, it was time to pick him up again. Mind you, it is 20mins to his school & another 20 mins back home so today I have done a total of almost an hour & a half of cardio. I was also able to fit in a sit up session & some weights for my arms don't want those flappin when I jumpin up. I intend to keep this up till I leave on the 13 of February to TnT so please all, wish me luck wit dat, of course my son may not let me stop taking him to school via the bicycle so I may have no odda choice. I guess dat would be a good thing though.

So all yuh go laugh but this is necessary for us over seas masqueraders. My best gyul friend & I have made a check list & have revised it over & over again, but I cyaa help but think I may have forgotten something. I have in my closet a section sectioned off for the clothes that I am taking wit me to TnT & a bag put aside with all the cosmetics I have started to buy for my ten day trip, yet still I feel I am forgetting something. This is what we have so far:

Monday/Tuesday sneakers (which I haven't baught yet).
2 sheer to waist stockings (haven't baught yet).
clear nail polish for potential runs in stockings.
Lady Mitchum deoderant (my friend swears iz di best!).

Cellulite Control

This is for all you ladies out there. I will be completely honest with all yuh. I have two kids, a husband, a job, & I blame dem for the weight gain. With that weight gain came dis nasty ting called CELLULITE! At least I thought that is what caused it. I have now educated myself on this nasty fatty stuff & of course only because of Carnival. I jus cyaa see myself jumpin up in dat lil' bottom piece of clothing with cottage cheese on di side of meh legs. Ewwwww! & the stretch marks top it off. I have the pleasure of baring them on my belly as a gift from my children for carrying dem for 9 months, wonderful! Well, that is what I thought cellulite was until I did some research to see how I could get rid of it.
I always thought I had cellulite because of the weight gain. I am now learning after jus putting up wit it after so many years that it is not from becoming a lil' plump. Cellulite is actually caused by dehydrated, damaged skin. Here are the facts Straight from the Dr. “Cellulite affects 90% of women, regardless of age or weight. Stretch marks affect 70% of adolescent females and 90% of pregnant women." Wow! Surprise surprise. So, all yuh thinkin dat you can exercise it off, wrong.
Another thing I learned, you cyaa control cellulite through weight loss & exercise because cellulite is found in the fat layer of the skin, not the fat in your body & this can not be metabolized & used as fuel.
Ok so, with all the research I did it was because of course carnival, & I found something that really wuks gyuls. I am still in awww because no lie, I am only on my 5th day of using this product & I am already seeing results. If I keep dis up by Carnival Monday i will be cellulite free. Yay!

Play meh Soca nuh!

As I mentioned before I looooove meh soca, cyaa live with out it. So I had to dedicate one of my blog entries to the art of soca music. You know iz really a shame at dis time of year for meh family, I mean even meh children start learning di words to meh favorite songs. It's actually kind of funny. I mean I will be driving in di car & hear my 6 & 4 year old in di back seat singin
" One more time, one more time.......uh uh uh oh, uh oh oooh" LOL! Laaaawd but I really cyaa help it I mean Machel is boss eh.
Anywho! Since before the holidays like all I was playin in di car was soca & all yuh go rel laugh when I tell yuh as I am writing I am listenin to Trinibashment 91.9 & might I add I listen to di station so much I kinda learned all the DJ's schedules(Zoro is on right now) again, iz a shame. Was more iz I have people in my office listening to soca now, non Trini's might I add. Yuh hadda teach people of odda culture right, so there I did my dutty for the day.
One more thing, there is no motivation like soca music for carnival, I bet when all yuh hearing soca on di radio all yuh does picture yuhself on di road jumpin up in a band or in a carnival fete winin up rel nice gyuls on a man & man winin rel good on a gyul bam bam ent? Well that does motivate me, just picturing myself jumpin up in Tribe. Somehow jiggling jus doh seem very appealing to me on Carnival Monday or Tuesday. So jumping rope to Soca or Die we do & jogging to Higher den High we must.

What is Soca?
Soca is a modern form of calypso with an up-tempo beat. There is a popular misconception that Soca is a fusion of American soul music and traditional calypso. Hence the name "so-ca," soul/calypso. Though this sounds plausible, it is simply not true. Soca music originated as a fusion of calypso with Indian rhythms, thus combining the musical traditions to the two major ethnic groups of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Father of Soca
Born October 6, 1941 in Lengua, Trinidad, Garfield Blackman would become the creator of soca. Blackman began singing calypso at the tender age of seven. Performing under the name Lord Shorty, he rose to fame in 1963 with his recording of Clock and Dagger. The name Lord Shorty is a paradoxical reference to his imposing height of 6-ft 4-in.
Talk that calypso was dying, and reggae was the new thing, prompted Lord Shorty to experiment with the calypso rhythm for nearly a decade. He combined Indian rhythm instruments (particularly the dholak, tabla and dhantal) with traditional calypso music. The result was a new energetic musical hybrid called soca. In 1973, Lord Shorty introduced soca to the world with his hit song Ïndrani. The release of his 1974 album Endless Vibrations prompted dozens of musicians to adopt the new soca style.
Lord Shoty initially referred to his musical hybrid as "solka", representing the true "soul of calypso." The "Indianization" of calypso brought together the musical traditions of Trinidad and Tobago's two major ethnic groups, the descendants of African slaves and of indentured laborers from India. The name was later changed to "soca" by a music journalist.
Endless Vibrations, the first soca album, contained the popular Om Shanti, a song that sparked controversy because of its use of a Hindu chant in the chorus line. Lord Shorty was no stranger to controversy in the ensuing years performing songs such as The PM Sex Probe, which poked fun at the Prime Minister. He was equally adept at performing songs dealing with social and political issues as in his hit Money Eh No Problem.
By the turn of the 1980s, "the father of soca" had become disenchanted with music he had created, saying that soca was being used to "celebrate the female bottom, rather than uplift the spirits of the people." Lord Kitchener's classic hit Sugar Bum Bum is a prime example of what he meant.
Around 1981, Lord Shorty converted to Rastafarianism, changed his name to Ras Shorty I, and moved into the Piparo forest in southern Trinidad, 50 miles from Port of Spain. There the prolific musician, composer and innovator continued to explore new musical frontiers while devoting himself to writing songs about spiritual matters and the dangers of hedonism. He formed the group Love Circle with his wife Claudette and several of their children. (He is said to have fathered anywhere from 14 to 20 children.) In the late 1980's he introduced a new style of music, jamoo, (Jah Music) which combined elements of reggae and gospel.
In 1997, he released the anti-drug song Watch Out My Children which went to the number one spot in the Caribbean. The song became an international hit and has been translated into ten languages.
On July 12, 2000 at the age of 58 Ras Shorty I died after a battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. His greatest legacy is the soca rhythm he created, bringing calypso into the modern era. The infectious soca rhythm has made calypso assessable to the young and the young at heart everywhere.
The Evolution of Soca
Innovative Montserrat singer Arrow did much to popularize soca internationally with his 1983 number one soca classic Hot Hot Hot. Arrow has also recorded a string of CDs includingKnock Dem Dead (1988), O'La Soca (1989) and Soca Dance Party (1990) which have become timeless examples of the best of the genre.
Some of the most popular soca recordings include Sugar Bum Bum - Lord Kitchener (1978),Soca Baptist - Super Blue (1980), Meh Lover - Lord Nelson (1983), Hot, Hot, Hot - Arrow (1983), Tiny Winey - Byron Lee & The Dragonaires (1985), Nani Wine - Crazy (1989),Teaser - Becket (1990), Dollar Wine - Collin Lucas (1991), and Jump - Rupee (2000).
Soca has continued to grow and evolve giving rise to offshoots such
as ragga soca and the increasingly popular chutney soca. Today soca
is the definitive indigenous musical form associated with the Eastern

Cleansing for Carnival

Ok this may sound a lil' bit TMI for all yuh right but I think this is an awsome product. My sister in law introduced me to this product named Colonix by Dr. Natura, a colon cleanser(hense di name colonix). I just finished my first month of the 3 the night before last. My sister in law & I decided to do this because alot of the testimonials on the site stated that the people had lost some weight & we really wanted to do so for Carnival, & besides it couldn't hurt to cleanse your system right? Needless to say I love the product I did it religiously everyday, it is awsome & honestly does work. You can read up on it on the website which I have on my Favorites or just go to www.drnatura.com
I would post some of the pictures they have on their website, but honestly they are a lil' to graphic & may make some of you a lil' queezy so consider this your warning before heading to the website. I have also been eating well & keeping active trying to follow the six week program that Saucy Diva listed on her blog, it is exhausting but hay, I just visualize how damn good ah go look in meh skimpy lil' costume & done. I now have started also taking the Immune protect b/c I really wanna be healthy for carnival, & the kids are taking the Paranil Jr. & also the sovereighn Silver for their immune system as well b/c they will be here with my parants while I am in Trinidad & I don't need them getting sick either. A lil' nervousy here......

Ok so this is my first blog entry & I just want to add that as it gets closer to Carnival 2K7 I am getting more & more nervous. WOI! Well now that everything is about Carnival wit me even my hubby get's really annoyed, I am sorry but this is a big deal to me. OMG! My best friend too it seems all we talk about these days is carnival. Example of a conversation we may have " Eh gyul how yuh goin deh?" " Ah doing good gyul, how you & di fam?" "We cool nuh......you decided wah fetes yuh wah go to?" & so on I won't even get into the rest.
Well honestly being inspired by fellow blogger Saucy Diva deh, I have to say it is incredibly funny, my best friend & I look at her blog faithfully everyday. LOL! Anywho!!! I dunno if you can tell by my screen name deh but I am not a Trini to di bone but I am a Trini By Injection. For those of you wondering wah she talking about, is my hubby whom injected me wit all dis Trini flava. Needless to say I now love Trinidad(yes I have been deh), love di food, love di people, & yes I love di lingo. Wit all di jokes of my hubby's family saying dat I am more Trini den they are my in law's especially & still must add dat I am still a latina to di bone but I cyaa help but love meh soca boi.
Ok but enough about dat, I am extremely nervous about carnival, we are about a month away & laaaawd! I am not ready at all at all. I haven't lost all di weight I promised myself to lose, I haven't bought my shoes yet, I am not done buying all my makeup yet. AHHHHHHH! I have however finished buying all my feteing gear which I guess is one weight off my shoulders. Well I have put the pedal to the metal now on my work out, having my new 2K7 soca on really helping me visualize myself on di road in meh skimpy next to nuttn costume. Laaaaawd! I betta loose all dem weight boi!

How yuh know when yuh ketching de carnival fever?

This is how I know I ketching de fever!!

Yuh willing to pay anything close to $3000.00 for a costume for two days.
When yuh contemplating selling corn soup to pay off fuh yuh costume ( a real life story).
When yuh working out and all yuh thinking about is how yuh go look in yuh costume.
When every time yuh pass ah shoe store yuh looking for a new pair of shoes to match yuh costume.
When u walking or driving through port of Spain and u having flashes of bussing a sweet whine in town.
During Christmas all yuh studying to do is collect gift money to pay off for your costume. (yuh know I funny…doh stress yuhself.. jus send me a card with the money.. is ok doh feel bad)
When yuh planning everything around carnival….( I will do my surgery in march instead of feburary Dr..thanks even though yuh bawling in pain)
When yuh put on yuh old costumes ever so often.
When yuh put on yuh costume more than ten times between the time u receive it and carnival day.
When anytime someone ask u how much more days to carnival yuh know the amount of days, hours, minutes and seconds.
When you are a walking fete calendar ( well Friday de tenth is brass , the 11th is WASA and de following Wednesday custom boys)
When u writing an entire blog dedicated to carnival.

When yuh visiting carnival websites all day instead of doing the people wuk.
Yuh cah wait for Christmas to pass …

When everybody yuh meet, :yuh asking them yuh playing mas? Wah band? Wah section?
When yuh done start to shop for coordinating outfits for all yuh fetes.
When yuh luggage done pack and yuh ticket done book.
When yuh have yuh costume as yuh desktop real often.
